“Eye Of The Tiger” Is My Theme Song

rockey balboa life quote

Music is not only used to entertain. It has the ability to empower the people who listen to it. One song in particular that keeps me motivated is Survivor’s “Eye Of The Tiger.” This song was released in 1982. It is best known as the theme song to Sylvester Stallone’s box office hit “Rocky.”

The song speaks of getting back on your feet even when things don’t go right. It talks about having a strong will no matter how many times something goes wrong. It tells listeners to never give up on their dreams. “Eye Of The Tiger” encourages to never back down during a challenge as well as being strong willed like a tiger. Towards the end of the song it speaks of never giving up even if the odds are stacked up against someone.

The song is played during the film when Rocky Balboa (Stallone) trains for his match against heavy-weight champion Apollo Creed to strive for self-respect and acceptance from others. The film itself is an inspiration telling the audience to chase after their dreams even though times are never easy. If someone wants something bad enough, he or she should go the distance no matter how long it takes to achieve.

Being in a wheelchair I faced many challenges throughout my life. When I hear “Eye Of The Tiger” it reminds me to keep pushing through and to never give up no matter how long it takes to reach whatever I set my mind to achieve. I love this song so much that I downloaded it as one of my ringtones. This way I can hear the positive message of the song when someone calls me. The song may be old, but I will never get tired of hearing it and singing along to it. I would like to end this post with the lyrics and the music video below.

“Eye Of The Tiger”

Rising up, back on the street

Did my time, took my chances

Went the distance, now I’m back on my feet

Just a man and his will to survive

So many times it happens too fast

You trade your passion for glory

Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past

You must fight just to keep them alive

It’s the eye of the tiger

It’s the thrill of the fight

Rising up to the challenge of our rival

And the last known survivor

Stalks his prey in the night

And he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat

Hanging tough, staying hungry

They stack the odds still we take to the street

For the kill with the skill to survive

It’s the eye of the tiger

It’s the thrill of the fight

Rising up to the challenge of our rival

And the last known survivor

Stalks his prey in the night

And he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger

Rising up, straight to the top

Had the guts, got the glory

Went the distance, now I’m not gonna stop

Just a man and his will to survive

It’s the eye of the tiger

It’s the thrill of the fight

Rising up to the challenge of our rival

And the last known survivor

Stalks his prey in the night

And he’s watching us all with the eye of the tiger

The eye of the tiger

The eye of the tiger

The eye of the tiger

The eye of the tiger

The band Nirvana was known for their Grunge music. One of their most popular songs was “Smells like Teen Spirit.” Today marks the time when the group created the official music video for the song according to thisdayinmusic.com.

The song was recorded on the Nevermind album which was released in 1991. It placed on the 6th spot on the US chart. According to songfacts.com it came together in a jam session when he played it for the band. The site also mentions Kathleen Hanna, the lead singer of the group Bikini Kill, gave Cobain the idea for the title when she spray painted “Kurt Smells Like Teen Spirit” on his bedroom wall after a night of drinking and spraying graffiti around the Seattle area.

The music video took place in Culver City California and cost less than $50,000 to produce states thisdayinmusic.com. For this music video Nirvana involved their fans as the audience. The kids were recruited at a show the band played two days earlier at The Roxy Theater in Los Angeles, where flyers were handed out saying, “Nirvana needs you to appear in their upcoming music video. According to songfacts.com Cobain said he wrote this song because he was feeling “disgusted with my generation’s apathy, and with my own apathy and spinelessness.” This feeling of detachment is what led to lyrics like “Oh well, whatever, nevermind.”

The song and the music video did so well that the video won Nirvana the Best New Artist and Best Alternative Group awards at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards, and in 2000 the Guinness World Records named ‘Teen Spirit’ the Most Played Video on MTV Europe. This song had a big impact on the music world. The group may no longer be together after the death of Kurt Cobain, but their music will live on forever! Fans Want Weird Al to Perform At The Super Bowl

The Super Half Time Show has always brought the hottest artists together. For this year’s entertainment fans of Weird Al Yankovic want him to perform. After he received his first number one album in his career fans created a petition. According to MSN.com the Change.org initiative, created by Ed Ball, has collected over 48,000 signatures.

Weird Al is well known for his parody songs such as Amish Paradise, Eat It, and Smells Like Nirvana. While attending California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, he hosted a radio show; he had his own radio show and earned his famous nickname. In college he recorded his first parody song “My Bologna” which was a parody of Knack’s “My Sharona.”

The song Eat It is a parody of Michael Jackson’s song Beat It. According to songfact.com the video for the song is a shot-for-shot parody of “Beat It.” They wanted to use the same sets, but those had been taken down so Al’s team had to re-create them. This parody is about a man who is a fussy eater and he needs to work on his table manners.

Smells Like Nirvana is a parody of Nirvana’s hit song Smells Like Teen Spirit. Songfacts.com states when Yankovic first heard Nirvana, he was very impressed but thought they wouldn’t catch on. He was thrilled when “Teen Spirit” became a huge hit, since that made the group a parody target (you don’t parody obscure songs).

Having him headline the Super Bowl Half Time Show would be a unique change. Something light hearted and funny. This for sure will get viewers talking good or bad. He is an artist who shocks people and makes them laugh their socks off. Below is the YouTube video of Eat It.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if artists from two different genres of music teamed up to do an album together? Well wonder no more because Lady Gaga is recording an album with jazz singer Tony Bennett which will be released on September 23. The album is titled “Cheek to Cheek.”

Lady Gaga is no stranger to jazz music. The pop singer revealed in an interview that she sang Jazz music since she was 13. The first song on the album to be released is called “Anything Goes.” This song was organically recorded by Cole Porter in 1934. The album will have remakes of other jazz songs such as “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing),” ”Sophisticated Lady,” ”Lush Life.” Gaga and Bennett’s voice will give these old jazz songs a unique sound.

This is not the first time that the pop star and jazz singer worked together. Four years ago Lady Gaga sang with Tony Bennett on his album Duets II. They recorded “Lady Is a Tramp” for the album. This song was originally recorded by “Ol’ Blue Eyes” Frank Sinatra in 1937. If you liked their version of this song, you don’t want to miss out on this new album.
